In this dialog you enter parameters for calculations of a relief valve tag.

ASME capacity certification

Select Required or Not required. This option is available for the Liquid or Water states only.

Sizing basis

Displays Blocked flow, Fire: Liquid Filled Vessel, or Fire: Gas Expansion. The value is read-only, and depends on the selected case (fire or non-fire) and for the fire case, on the fluid state.

Valve style

Select the required valve style: Bellows, Conventional, or Pilot-operated.

Use rupture disk at inlet

Select Yes to use a rupture disk at the inlet, or accept the default No.

Correction factor for back pressure (Kw)

Type the required value for the correction factor for back pressure (Kw). This option is available for liquid state only. If you are using the Bellows valve style, leave this field blank and select Calculate to let Smart Instrumentation calculate the required correction factor for back pressure (Kw).

Calculate

Select this check box for automatic calculation of the correction factor for Bellows back pressure (Kw). This option is not available for other valve styles.

Effective coefficient of discharge (Kd)

Type the required effective coefficient of discharge (Kd), or select Default to restore the default value.

Combination capacity (Kc)

Type the required combination capacity factor (Kc), or select Default to restore the default value. This field is visible if you selected Yes for Use rupture disk at inlet.

Calculated Result Fields

After you select Calculate, Smart Instrumentation displays the calculated values in these fields.

OK

Accept your changes, and close this dialog (displayed for batch calculation).

Close

For standard calculation, close this dialog. For batch calculation, close this dialog and discard your changes.

Calculate

Calculate according to the current settings and display the results in the appropriate fields (displayed for standard calculation).

In Case that the following selections were made On the drop down pane:
On the GENERAL group box, Fluid stateLiquid, and on the SIZING DATA group box,
Case

Fire. An alert will appear which will alert that fire based calculation is based on the vapor flow rate.
