You can set the Item Type filter for the entire tree view of the active Explorer view, a selected folder or parent node, or a specific item within a folder. You can then specify an Item Type property that will further define your filter.

  1. In an Explorer window, to filter the entire tree view, select a hierarchy node whose immediate child items are folders and not plant items, then select New Filter on the toolbar.

    OR

    To filter a folder or a hierarchy node, select a hierarchy node or a folder containing the items that you want to filter, and then select New Filter. Alternatively, you can right-click a folder or a hierarchy node and then on the shortcut menu, select Filter.

  2. Select one of the following options:

    • If, in the Explorer tree view you selected a hierarchy node whose immediate child items are folders select All tree view for the selected item type.

    • If you selected a folder or hierarchy node, select Selected folder or parent item.

  3. On the Filter Definition dialog, from the Items type list, select an item type appropriate to the folder or parent node that you selected in the tree view.

  4. In the expression row next to the (Add) icon, you define the parameters for which you want to set the filter.

  5. Select the item's Attribute from the drop-down list.

  6. Select the required Operator for the filter to use to compare in relation to the expression you type for Value.

  7. Type a Value in the value box, for the filter to evaluate the value in the expression.

  8. Use the And/Or Logic option when you specify more than one filter condition.

    This option allows you to select the required logical operator (And or Or) to determine how the next filter expression will relate to the current expression. When you have a mixture of logical operators for several conditions, the software performs the expressions on the conditions in order, for example:
    (A and B) or C
    (A or B) and C

  9. Select Add if you want to add another Item Type expression to the filter definition.

  10. To filter the data of the current lowest plant hierarchy level, select the Current lowest plant hierarchy level check box.

  11. Select OK.

  • A filter icon next to a folder in the Explorer , indicates that the current view is filtered.

  • To delete one of the filtering conditions, select NewExplorer_CustomView_Remove Delete at the end of the condition's row.

  • To clear the whole filter, select New Clear Filter Clear Filter.

  • When filtering the entire domain or setting a filter without selecting a specific node or folder, the Clear Filter command is not available. In this case, to clear the filter, open the Filter Definition dialog and delete the filter definition.

  • Filter settings take effect only for the user who defined the filter.
