For text files, the Import Utility uses Microsoft Text drivers (.txt and .csv files). Therefore, it is important to properly build the correct profiles. The following steps are necessary to work with Fisher, Masoneilan, and Flowserve interfaces as well as with Import Utility default parameters.

In 64-bit environments, certain ODBC profiles and drivers cannot be seen by the SmartPlant software. Additionally, they cannot be added from the Windows Control Panel. To add or view these profiles and drivers you need to use the 32-bit version of the Data Sources which is found under %Systemdrive%\Windows\SysWoW64\odbcad32.exe.

  1. In your Windows operating system open Administrative Tools > Data Sources. (64-Bit users see Important note above.)

  2. On the ODBC Data Source Administrator dialog, select Add on either the User DSN or System DSN tab, whichever is appropriate.

  3. On the Create New Data Source dialog, from the Name list select the Microsoft Text Driver (*.txt; *.csv).

  4. Select Finish.

  5. On the ODBC Text Setup dialog, type in the Data Source Name and Description for your database.

  6. Clear the Use Current Directory check box.

If the Use Current Directory check box is selected, you will not be able to define the format.

  7. Select Options.

  8. Clear the Default check box.

  9. From the extensions list, select *.txt or *.csv.

SHARED Tip If the extension doesn't exist in the list you can add it by typing the extension in the Extension field and then selecting Add.

  10. Select Define Format and set the format parameters.

  11. Select OK.

  12. Select Select Directory and set the default folder for your database.

  13. Select Use Current Directory and select OK.

  14. Select OK.
