The software uses three numbering systems:
Global numbering system
When this system is used, the selected key number originates from a general number list that applies to the entire system.
Local numbering system
When this system is used, the selected key is numbered within a table. A primary key and a foreign key may contain more than one column. For example, the CABLE table primary key can contain both CABLE_ID and CABLE_NUM columns. Each key is numbered in the table. If a key contains more than one column, each column is numbered in the key. If CABLE_ID and CABLE_NUM are the columns comprising the CABLE table primary key, then each column has a serial number within the CABLE table primary key, for example, 1 and 2. The PANEL_STRIP table primary key also consists of two columns:
-
PANEL_NAME, which originates from the PANEL table and is numbered globally
-
STRIP_NAME, which is numbered locally
Therefore, in every new panel, the terminal strip numbering restarts from 1, whereas the panel numbering continues the global numbering.
Local revision numbering system
This is a local numbering method that starts from zero instead of from one.
