The options on the General tab allow you to define the general and electrical parameters of your segment-wide parameter profile. In addition to profile name and description, you can define the maximum number of devices that can be associated with a segment, the maximum number of instruments that can be connected to a spur, and so forth.
Profile name
Allows you to type a name for the profile.
Description
Allows you to type a description for the profile.
Default profile
Sets the current profile as the default setting for new segments, replacing any previous default selection. You do not have to select a default profile.
Maximum number of devices
The options allow you to define the maximum number of devices allowed per spur, segment, and per intrinsically safe segment.
Per spur
Allows you to type the maximum number of allowed tag numbers per spur.
Per segment
Allows you to type the maximum number of allowed tag numbers per segment.
Per IS segment
Allows you to type the maximum number of allowed devices per intrinsically safe segment.
Maximum number of assigned function blocks
In this group box, you define the maximum number of function blocks that can be associated per I/O card and per segment.
Per I/O card
Allows you to type the maximum number of function blocks that can be associated with an I/O card.
Per segment
Allows you to type the maximum number of function blocks that can be associated with a segment.
Electrical parameters
These options enable you define various electrical settings that can be allowed in your fieldbus system.
Power supply
Allows you to type the available voltage source value.
Minimum receiver voltage
Allows you to type the minimum receiver voltage value that can be read by a DCS.
Allowable current per non-IS segment
Allows you to type the maximum allowable value for the current consumption in the non-intrinsic safety segments.
Allowable current per IS segment
Allows you to type the maximum allowable value for the current consumption in the intrinsic safety segments.
Maximum capacitance
Allows you to type the maximum segment capacitance in the unit of measure selected at right.
