To open an EDE view, do the following:

  1. In the EDE Explorer, expand the folder containing the EDE view.

  2. Double-click the EDE view.

  • When opening an EDE View which was converted from the previous Browsers, an activity bar appears under the EDE View, while the conversion operation is running.

  • Access rights are defined in the Administration Module, if you do not have access rights (Access Denied) for a specific module or activity, for example; Calculation, Hook-Ups, or Wiring, you cannot view its data from a query, preview a query and see the data, or open an EDE from the EDE Explorer and view its data.

  • When opening an EDE view for the first time based on a predefined shipped browser (without a predefined sort), the EDE displays the columns and data in a different order than that of the browser. There is no change in the data.

  • Browsers converted to the EDE format may have slight changes made to their names. This is because of two reasons:

    • Due to restrictions on the use of certain characters in EDE names, for example !, you may find characters missing from your EDE name.

    • In certain circumstances the software adds characters to the name of the EDE, for example _0. This is to preserve the uniqueness of your EDE's names where necessary.

  • After conversion some of the EDE View folders might appear empty. These folders cannot be deleted. This is because the EDE View folders only display EDE's that are associated with the selected plant. EDE's from another plant are not displayed. Therefore, if you have no EDE's associated with the selected plant, the EDE View folder appears empty.
