You can apply all existing instrument profiles to selected tags from the Domain Explorer or from an instrument EDE view.

Use these procedures to associate existing instrument profiles to selected tags that do not have an Instrument profile.

Apply All Existing Profiles from the Domain Explorer

  1. In the Domain Explorer, expand the Instruments folder.

  2. Select the tag number.

SHARED Tip To select more than one Instrument at the same time, select on the Instruments folder and use the CTRL key to select multiple items.

  3. Right-click, and select Actions > Apply All Profile Options.

  4. In the Results dialog, view the results for each set of items, and then select Close.

Apply All Existing Profiles from an Instrument EDE View

  1. Generate an EDE View that contains the required instruments.

  2. From the Instrument Name column, select the instruments that you want to associate with the existing instrument profiles.

  3. Right-click and from the shortcut menu, select Actions > Apply All Profile Options.

  4. In the Results dialog, view the results for each set of items, and then select Close.

  • To make this feature work, you must select the appropriate check boxes and options in the instrument type profile of the selected tag number. For more details, see Define an Instrument Type Profile.

  • This option applies all the instrument type profile options to the selected tag numbers, regardless of the settings defined on the Instrument Index > Profile page of the Preferences dialog.

  • This option does not affect instrument profile options for items other than specifications, control system tags, and device panels and cables.

  • If you are applying a profile that has custom table definitions, the software creates the custom tables and overwrites the data of the previously created custom tables for the current tag numbers.
