Use this dialog to update block assignments that might have been changed during your <plant> life cycle. You can update block assignments in batch mode, for one or more instrument tags belonging to the same loop or to a group of loops.

Tag number

Displays the tag number you have selected in the Domain Explorer. When selecting several tag numbers, displays the first selected loop tag number of the item list.

Update options

Add block

Adds a block to the current instrument tag number, provided that the block is assigned to the instrument type of the current tag number. The added block is shown in the Domain Explorer under the current instrument tag number as PPM All Outputs Graphic. Blocks already assigned to the instrument using the manual block assignment method (shown under that tag as PPM All Outputs Graphic) are not affected. You can use this option if, for example, the block assigned to the instrument type of the current tag does not appear in the Domain Explorer. This can happen if you dissociate the block from the instrument. In this case, you reassign the same block to the current instrument.

Overwrite

Overwrites the existing blocks with blocks that have been assigned to a specific instrument type and removes all the blocks that are not assigned to the instrument type of the displayed tag number. You can use this option in the following scenarios:

Updating Associations

  1. Assign blocks A and B to an instrument tag number using the manual block assignment method. Both blocks are shown in the Domain Explorer as PPM All Outputs Graphic.

  2. Assign block A to the instrument type of this tag number.

  3. Refresh the blocks in the Domain Explorer (the software displays the block A twice: as PPM All Outputs Graphic and as PPM All Outputs Graphic).

  4. Select Overwrite to update the block assignments. The software removes the block A shown as PPM All Outputs Graphic and also removes block B.

Updating Dissociations

  1. Assign blocks A and B to a specific instrument type. Both blocks are shown in the Domain Explorer as PPM All Outputs Graphic under all tags belonging to the instrument type to which you assigned the blocks.

  2. For block A, change block association method from automatic to manual. The block A icon changes PPM All Outputs Graphic from PPM All Outputs Graphic.

  3. Dissociate blocks A and B from the instrument type. After refreshing the blocks in the Domain Explorer, block B is removed from the Domain Explorer while block A remains assigned to the appropriate tags manually.

  4. Select Overwrite to update the block assignments. The software removes block A from all the tags where the block appears.
