The table below shows the main differences between Specification Binder packages and General Document Binder packages.

Specification Binder Package

General Document Binder Package

You can only associate instrument specifications with Specification Binder packages.

You can associate various types of documents with General Document Binder packages; these include any document that has a document number, specification sheets (including instrument specifications), process data sheets, enhanced reports and external documents such as Word or Excel files.

If you add an instrument specification to a Specification Binder package, you cannot add the same instrument specification to any other package, whether it is a Specification Binder package or a General Document Binder package.

You can add the same document to any number of General Document Binder packages; however, if you add an instrument specification to one or more General Document Binder packages, you cannot also add it to a Specification Binder package.

Revisions on the package also apply to the instrument specifications in the package.

Revisions on the package do not affect the revision numbers for individual drawings or documents in the package.

You can generate Change Reports for Specification Binder packages.

Change Reports are not available.
