The specification-change notification options determine whether an instrument specification is revised when you generate a formal issue for the Specification Binder package to which it is assigned, and whether it will appear in the Change Summary Report.

The first time you edit an instrument specification after adding it to a Specification Binder package, the Changed field is automatically set to Yes. You can reset the status manually ( Yes / No) at this time or later:

This dialog opens after you edit a specification that is part of a Specification Binder package and choose to save the changes.

In the Document Binder module

After editing an instrument specification, the settings in this group box determine the way it is treated in the Document Binder module Specification Binder package by selecting one of the following options:

Mark this item as Changed

The specification undergoes a revision at the next formal issue.

Do not mark this item as Changed

The specification retains the previous status before you edited the status. In this case, the specification may or may not undergo a revision at the next formal release, depending on its previous status.

  • After a formal release, the change notification of all instrument specifications in the Specification Binder package is set to No. You can reset the status manually ( Yes / No) at this time or later.

  • The status of the instrument specifications in a Specification Binder package also affects printing options. If you select to print only changed documents, then only those specifications for which the Changed column value is Yes will be printed.

Release this item to Spec (only available if the workflow option was set to Full by the System Administrator, and if the current workflow status is Release to Instrument)

Releases the workflow to enable a formal issue to be generated for the instrument specification in the Specification Binder package.
