This procedure only works if the Functional Requirement has a Multi-See list specification.

  1. In the Reference Explorer open the Query Builder folder and locate the query you created for finding tags that can be associated with a functional requirement.

  2. Right-click on the query and from the shortcut menu select Actions > Generate EDE View.

  3. In the EDE grid, in the Instrument Name column, locate the tags you want to associate with a functional requirement.

  4. In the Functional Requirement column, locate the cells that intersect with the required tag rows.

  5. Double-click on one of the cells and from the Functional Requirement select list, select the required functional requirement.

  6. Select out of the select list and then right-click the cell with the functional requirement, from the shortcut menu and select Copy.

  7. Highlight the functional requirement column cells that correspond to the instruments you want to associate with the functional requirement.

  8. Right-click and select Paste.

  • Functional requirements are also displayed in the Instrument Name column of the EDE.

  • If you copy/paste a functional requirement cell in to another functional requirement cell, a red border is displayed around the cell and a message is displayed when you hover the cursor over the cell.

  • You cannot add instruments from another unit or move and duplicate the functional requirement to another unit.

  • If a functional requirement already has associated instruments, when opening a specification the functional requirement appears as the master and all associated instruments are displayed in the Multi-See list, there is no need to add instruments to the See list.

  • In the EDE, if you change the functional requirement to a different one, the change is rejected if the instrument has a Specification or Process Data sheet.

  • In the EDE, if you remove an instrument from the functional requirement that has a specification or process data and is in the Multi-See list, the instrument is removed from the Multi-See list. and a single specification sheet is created.

  • Editing and updating common See-List instrument properties in the EDE results in just the property of the selected instrument being updated, not all the See-List instruments with common properties. To edit or update See-List instruments with common properties you must update them in the Specification Module.
