This procedure explains how to create new telecom tag numbers. Note that the new tag numbers will be based on the telecom profile default that you defined.

Do one of the following:

In the Domain Explorer, right-click the Instruments folder and then select New.

On the Instrument Index Module window menu bar, select Edit > Tag Numbers > New Tag Number.

On the module toolbar, select New Tag
.

On the New Tag Number dialog, from the Tag class list, select Telecom.

Under Tag number, type the name of the new tag number. For details on how to name new tag numbers, see Instrument Tag Naming Convention.
If more than one function identifier exists for the current telecom type acronym,
select an appropriate telecom device type on the Select Telecom Type dialog and then select OK.

On the New Tag Number dialog, select OK.

On the Select Instrument Type dialog, select the instrument type you want to associate with the current telecom instrument, and then, select OK.

On the Tag Number Properties dialog, enter appropriate values on the General tab.

Select the Telecom tab and enter your values as needed.

If the current field tag requires power supply definitions, select the Power Supply tab and enter your values as needed. Make sure that you have selected the Requires power supply check box on the General tab.

Select OK to accept all the values that you have entered and to create the field tag.
