Before calculating intrinsic safety for a loop, you must perform this procedure for each cable in the circuit.
-
In the Domain Explorer, right-click a cable, and on the short-cut menu, select Properties.
-
On the Cable Properties dialog, beside the Type list, select .
-
On the Cable Types dialog, select the required row, and then select Properties.
You can also create a new intrinsically safe circuit type.
-
On the Cable Type Properties dialog, make sure that you express the following parameters in the following units of measure:
-
Capacitance — nF (nanoFarad) / km
-
Resistance — Ohm/km
-
Inductance — mH/km
-
-
Select OK to close the Cable Type Properties dialog.
-
Make sure that the row that you require is selected and then select OK to close the Cable Types dialog.
-
On the Cable Properties dialog, under Unit of measure, select meter.
-
Under Length, define the cable length.
-
Select the Set as intrinsically safe check box, and then select OK.
