The Cable Filter dialog enables you to select and display all the cables of a particular type in the current <plant> by applying appropriate filters. This includes whether or not the cables are connected. If you choose to filter cables that have no connections, you can filter them further according to several criteria.

Cable

Allows you to type the cable name according to which you want to filter the data. You can include any letter or number combination, as well as the following wildcards to further refine your query: % (percent), _ (underscore), and * (asterisk).
This field is not case-sensitive. The default setting is asterisk (*) which means that the software does not filter the cables according to their names. Remember not to leave this field blank. If you leave this field blank, the software will not display any cables at all.

Connection criteria

These options allow you to filter the cables according to their connections.

Look for connections

Allows you to include the connection criteria in the filter condition. This activates the check boxes under Connection and under Connected to. Clearing this check box does not include any of the connection criteria in the filter condition and disables the Connection and the Connected to check boxes.

Connection

Allows you to select a connection criterion.

No connections on either end

Allows you to include the cables that are not connected to anything on both ends.

At least one wire connected on one end only

Allows you to include to include the cables that contain at least one wire that is connected on one of its ends only.

At least one wire connected on both ends

Allows you to include the cables that contain at least one wire that is connected on its both ends.

Connected to

These options allow you to select the kind of panels to which the cables are connected. These check boxes are only available if you have selected the Look for connections option.

Junction boxes

Allows you to look for cables that are connected to junction boxes.

Marshaling racks

Allows you to look for cables that are connected to marshaling racks.

Cabinets

Allows you to look for cables that are connected to cabinets.

Device panels

Allows you to include or exclude device cables:

Include device cables

Allows you to include all the device cables.

Exclude device cables

Allows you to include to include the cables that contain at least.

Cable attributes and associations

These options allow you to filter the cables according to cable manufacturer, type, model, and various associations.

Manufacturer

Allows you to select a cable manufacturer according to which you want to filter the cables.

Type

Allows you to select a cable type according to which you want to filter the cables.

Fieldbus segment

Allows you to select a fieldbus segment according to which you want to filter the cables.

Device panels

Allows you to include or exclude device cables:

Pulling area

Allows you to select a pulling area according to which you want to filter the cables.

Routing section

Allows you to select a routing section according to which you want to filter the cables.

EDE filter

Allows you to select a predefined EDE view according to which you want to filter the cables.

Display cross-wiring cables only

Allows you to display cross-wiring cables only. Cables that are not defined as cross-wiring cables will not appear in the Cables tree view.

Display telecom cables only

Allows you to display telecom cables only. Cables that are not defined as telecom cables will not appear in the Cables tree view.

Apply filter settings in all sessions

Saves the filter definition and applies it in future sessions.

Display current <unit> data only

Allows you to display display the data for the current <unit> only. Clear this check box to display the data for all the <units> in the current domain.

Reset

Clears the current filter definitions and resets them to default settings which are as follows:

  • Cable — asterisk (no filtering according to cable name)

  • Connection criteria — not selected (no filtering according to connections)

  • Browser filter — no selection (no filtering according to the settings made in the Browser filter)

  • ManufacturerAll (no filtering according to cable manufacturer)

  • ModelAll (no filtering according to cable model)

  • TypeAll (no filtering according to cable type)

  • Fieldbus segment — no selection (no filtering according to fieldbus segment)

  • Pulling areaAll (no filtering according to pulling area)

  • Routing sectionAll (no filtering according to routing section)

  • Display cross-wiring cables only — not selected (no filtering according to cross- wiring cables)

  • Display telecom cables only — not selected (no filtering according to telecom cables)

  • Apply filter settings in all sessions — not selected

  • Display current <unit> data only — selected (the Cables tree view displays current <unit> data only)
