This dialog enables you to edit cable type data for existing cable types and to enter data for new cable types.
To open this dialog, on the Cable Types dialog, select Properties.
Cable type
Allows you to type a cable type name, for example SP IS, Multi-Pair OAS, and so forth.
Description
Allows you to type a cable type description, for example Single Pair Shielded, Multi-Pairs, or Overall Shield.
Part number
Allows you to type a catalog part number associated with a particular cable type.
Gland - end 1
Allows you to select a gland for the first end of the cable. The values on this list are defined on the Cable Glands dialog.
Gland - end 2
Allows you to select a gland for the second end of the cable.
Attenuation factor
Allows you to type an attenuation factor value.
Attenuation UOM
Allows you to select a unit of measure label for the defined attenuation factor.
Capacitance factor
Allows you to type a capacitance factor. For fieldbus validations, this is a required field.
Capacitance UOM
Allows you to select a unit of measure label for the defined capacitance factor. For fieldbus validations, this is a required field.
Cable resistance
Allows you to type a cable resistance factor. For fieldbus validations, this is a required field.
Cable resistance UOM
Allows you to select a unit of measure label for the cable resistance. For fieldbus validations, this is a required field.
Length
These options allow you to define the length unit of measure and the cable length properties of the current cable type.
Length UOM
Allows you to select a unit of measure label for all cable-length parameters. For fieldbus validations, this is a required field.
The software uses the unit of measure to calculate the total cable length for a particular cable type when generating a Cable Summary Take-off report.
Maximum fieldbus length
Allows you to type a maximum total length for this type of cable for a fieldbus segment. For fieldbus validations, this is a required field.
Minimum drum length
Allows you to type a minimum drum length for the cable type.
Maximum drum length
Allows you to type a maximum drum length for the cable type.
Drum spare length percent
Allows you to type a percent out of the total drum length that the software adds as the cable spare length. For 1%, type 1, for 10%, type 10, and so forth.
Cross-section
Allows you to select a conductor cross section for the current cable. If the value you need is not on the list, select to open the Conductor Cross- Sections supporting table.
