This dialog enables you to define an intrinsic safety circuit for an intrinsic safety calculation. This calculation allows you to determine the maximum permissible cable length between the hazardous and non-hazardous areas.

To open the Intrinsically Safe Circuit dialog, select Safe Circuit Calc icon 16bit or select Actions > Intrinsic Safety.

Circuit type

Allows you to select a circuit type for the current calculation. If the required circuit type is not on this list, select New to create a new one or select Edit to modify the existing type.

Circuit description

When creating or editing circuit type, allows you to enter a short description that can characterize this circuit type. This description appears in this data field for each circuit type whenever it is selected.

I/O type

When creating a new circuit type, allows you to select an appropriate I/O type. You can determine the contents of this list on the I/O Type dialog.

Area classification

When creating a new circuit type or editing an existing one, select an appropriate area classification, for example, Flame Proof, General Purpose, IS Certified FM/IEC, and so forth. You can determine the contents of this list on the Panel Area Classification dialog.
