This option enables you to select a group of loop numbers and duplicate them along with their instruments in the Instrument Index Module.

  1. Select Modules > Instrument Index Instr Index icon 16bit to start the Instrument Index Module.

  2. Select Edit > Loop Numbers > Duplicate Loop Number.

  3. In the Enter Loop Number dialog, select Find to open the Duplicate Loop Number - Find Items dialog.

  4. Select the loops you want to duplicate, and select OK.

  5. On the Duplicate Multiple Loop Numbers dialog select the + next to a loop to expand it and display its instruments.

  6. Edit the loop and instrument details as follows:

    • Edit the New Loop Number, and the Loop Service fields as required. New Loop Number must be unique within the target unit.

    • Edit the New Tag Number, and Tag Service fields as required. Use the Instr Type ellipsis button column to select a different instrument type. New Tag Number must be unique.

If the loops that you selected include instruments of more than one tag class, you cannot edit the New Tag Number and Tag Service fields.

By default, the instrument type naming segment in the New Tag Number is copied from the Source Tag Number. If you select a different instrument type, the naming segment in the New Tag Number field changes to the new value. If you manually modify the instrument type naming segment in the New Tag Number field, the software assigns the first instrument type from the list that uses the string you entered.

If you are working in KKS, note the following:

    • To edit a naming segment, double-click on it and select the appropriate value from the list.

    • If a naming segment of a New Tag Number matches the naming segment of the New Loop Number, changing that segment in the New Loop Number changes the segment in the New Tag Number as well.

  7. Leave selected only the check boxes of the instruments you want to duplicate. Clear all others.

  8. Select the ellipsis button next to Target unit to select the unit where you want the duplicates created. The target unit can be in another area or plant.

If the target unit uses a different naming convention from the source unit, the loop numbers and tag numbers change automatically to conform to the target convention when you select the target unit.

  9. Select OK to begin the duplication process.

    • The Progress bar shows the overall progress of the duplication process.

    • The Activity field displays the current duplicated loop and instrument.

    • The Target unit displays the target unit to which the current loop or instrument are duplicated.

The Result column shows an initial view of the duplication results. The Ö indicates duplication success, and the X indicates failure.

  10. Select View log to view the Duplicate Multiple Loops Log. The report indicates if there is a problem in duplication and briefly describes the cause of the problem.

  11. After you take appropriate action, you can select OK to run the duplication again.

The software duplicates only the loops that were not duplicated in the previous run.
