The following procedures describe special instructions for the installation of Smart Instrumentation when working in thin client mode on a Citrix machine.  Tuning Smart Instrumentation involves performing the following operations:

  • Installing Smart Instrumentation on Citrix.

  • Publishing the Smart Instrumentation program to enable it to be viewed on a web page or in a published Citrix application list.

  • Configuring Citrix Presentation Server for Smart Instrumentation.

  • Creating individual Intools.ini files for new users.

  • Creating the MKIntools.cmd file.

  • For users in thin client mode who want to work with Integration, IDEAL, the Smart Electrical Interface or DCS Vendor Interfaces, modifying the Registry Path key for Smart Instrumentation for each user.

  • When using the Windows 10 operating system, you should be aware that the OS stores a copy of the product .ini file (only if the .ini file is read only) in the following location: C:\Users\{user name}\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\SmartPlant\<product folder>\.ini, as well as in the Smart Instrumentation root folder. If you need to delete the .ini file or create a new .ini file, you must delete it from both of these folders. Deleting it just from the Smart Instrumentation folder means that login to the product is still possible using outdated information.

Due to security changes in Windows 10, users who require access to INIT/Backup, upgrade, import, and Administration functions, must have windows administrative privileges for this functionality to work correctly.
