This section provides requirements and information specific to translating Isogen source files.

Requirements and Considerations

  • Generated Isogen data and associated drawing files must have the same name and be placed in the same folder for Smart Interop Publisher to automatically correlate and then publish the files to SmartPlant Foundation and Portal applications.

  • Use the generated .sha or .igr drawing files and the tooldata or metadata .xml files with the generated .pod or .pcf files from Isogen as source file input to Smart Interop Publisher.

  • Smart Interop Publisher reads all the PIPELINE-REFERENCES from the input source file and creates the CR3DPipeLineSystem. The software places all the components under its respective pipeline systems and writes the pipeline system properties into .drv and .mdb2 files.

  • To create spool data and relationships with pipe parts, use the Spool Tag Identifier option in translation settings. See Alias Isogen options.

Custom Mapping (Optional)

Smart Interop Publisher provides an Isogen default mapping file (IsogenToR3DMapping.xls) and a corresponding custom mapping template file. The default mapping file contains mixed units for basic properties. The custom mapping file provides a Units G column that is read by the software and used during the translation. You can use Mixed, Metric only, or English only for the unit of measure labels.

  1. Review the IsogenToR3DMapping.xls default mapping file to see the classes and properties that are currently mapped.

  2. In the CustomMappingFiles folder, make a copy of the CustomIsogenToR3DMapping.xls file and place it in another location.

  3. Edit the custom mapping file to either modify property labels or add classes and properties. See Edit the custom mapping template file.

Smart Interop Publisher removes any colons placed inside a property name during translation. For example, if you enter Net:Area for the property name, the resulting translation displays NetArea.

  4. To display unit strings such as 'meters' or 'inches' with specific property values in the translated model, you can define the Units G column in the custom mapping file. See Set the units of measure (UoM) in custom mapping.

Smart Interop Publisher creates system breakdown structures to display pipe line system properties in a hierarchy. The software places all piping components under their respective pipeline system.
