Any structural model data from PDMS or E3D requires cardinal point information to support workflows such as those for Smart 3D Project As-Built. For example, cardinal point information is required to specify the shape of a steel profile in a model used in a Smart 3D As-Built model. The default PDMS mapping file delivered with Smart Interop Publisher already contains basic shapes for a CardinalPoint class. Compare the shape data in the default PDMS mapping file to the profile shapes in the PDMS catalog that you require. Add any missing shapes to the custom PDMS default mapping file.

Any structural model data from PDMS or E3D requires cardinal point information to support workflows such as those for Smart 3D Project As-Built. For example, cardinal point information is required to specify the shape of a steel profile in a model used in a Smart 3D As-Built model. The default PDMS mapping file delivered with Smart Interop Publisher already contains basic shapes for cardinal point mapping in which the shape is identified by the GTYP property. You can add any missing shapes that you require to the custom PDMS mapping file by selecting the corresponding profile shape and mapped cardinal point from the PDMS default mapping file, and then adding them in the PDMS custom mapping file using the appropriate GTYP value.

To get cardinality for structure shape data, use the JUSL and GTYP property values contained in the .att file generated by PDMS or E3D. The example below is an excerpt from a sample PDMS .att file where the GTYPE BOX represents the shape and the JUSL value NA is the cardinal point data to use.

To map these values for cardinality:

  1. Make a copy of the CustomPDMSToR3DMapping.xls file located in [drive]:\Program Files\SmartPlant\Interop Publisher\3DInteropMappingFiles\CustomMappingFiles.

  2. On the CodeListValue sheet, enter CardinalPoint for the PDMS Class and add the following:

  3. Add all GTYPE and JUSL values for the remaining cardinality mapping you need and save your edits.

  4. For Smart 3D Project As-Built workflows, assign the SIO property value and SIO Codelist Number of each structure shape. Refer to the PDMS default mapping file get the required SIO property value and codelist number.

  5. Select this custom mapping file at translation. See Set the custom option.
