There are two processes (below) that Hexagon will follow to ensure a smooth transition to Smart Licensing and to ensure that there are no surprises:

  • Scenario One: If you have maintenance on a version of a Hexagon software product that requires Smart Licensing, log a new SR for an upgrade to the new version and tell us that you want to move to Smart Licensing. Filing an SR is the same process you have used for years to request a new version of a Hexagon software product that you have on maintenance.

    • Hexagon global support personnel triage the SR and determine a software upgrade has been requested, at which point the SR is routed to the local software delivery/order processing group, as has been the case for years under SmartPlant License Manager.

    • The Software Delivery team processes the upgrade request and provides both the software and the Smart Licensing Client software. The Hexagon License Service Team provides the Smart Licensing key(s).

  • Scenario Two: If you are requesting to move from SmartPlant Licensing Manager to Smart Licensing and do not require an upgrade to a new version of a Hexagon software product that uses Smart Licensing (Scenario One above), follow the process below:

    • Send requests for Intergraph Smart Licensing (ISL) to the Hexagon License Service Team. You should provide you contact information, company name and address, and your Site ID when sending the request. Please also include which server(s) is/are moving to Smart Licensing. The email subject line should include: ‘ISL request for [Insert Company Name & Site ID]’.

    • You will be notified by the Hexagon License Service Team when the request is received and is being processed. Requests will be fulfilled in the order they are received.

    • The Hexagon License Service Team will set you up on Smart Licensing and help you produce your first Smart Licensing license key(s) in the License Portal. They will also provide the required Smart Licensing Client software.
