Checkout in Smart Licensing provides more flexibility and control of the checkout options such as number of licenses and time per device. SmartPlant License Manager Checkout Utility (SPLMCU) had specific compatibility requirements, which increased complexity. In addition, licenses that were checked out by SPLMCU could not be checked in.
