Smart Materials/Smart Reference Data Version
10.2

Gray is the standard background color of the Smart Materials and Smart Reference Data screens. If you want to change the colors of your application, you can use themes to define your favorite color sets.

To define and maintain themes, use the A.30.15 Themes screen.

When you select a theme in the first (Themes) block, the screen colors automatically change to the colors defined for the selected theme.

The following standard color themes are delivered with the software.

  • STANDARD - gray background

  • STD THEME - white background

  • NEW THEME - blue background

These standard color themes cannot be deleted or modified, but you can use them as templates to create your own themes. Copy a standard color theme, change the theme name, modify it to your needs, and save it.

Themes can be defined on different levels.

  • Application level via DBA setting THEME_COLOR on the A.60.04 DBA Settings screen

  • Project level via project default ZX_THEME on A.20.12 Project Defaults screen

  • Project Discipline level via project discipline default ZX_THEME on the A.20.13 Project Discipline Defaults screen

  • User level

The user level theme can only be set on the A.30.15 screen. The themes for the other levels can either be set on A.30.15, or you can assign a theme to the DBA setting or project default using the above mentioned screens. To set a theme, select the theme in the first (Themes) block. The colors of A.30.15 will automatically change to match the selected theme, to help you in choosing a suitable theme. Then click the button for the appropriate level, DBA setting, project setting, project discipline setting, or user setting. The selected theme will be stored for the chosen level.

The theme that is displayed depends on which levels themes are assigned. A theme assigned to the DBA setting THEME_COLOR will be used as a general default for all projects/disciplines/users. If no definition was made on deeper levels, this theme will be used. A definition on the project or project discipline level will be used instead of the general default when you log in to this project or project discipline. The deepest level is the user level. Each user can define his own theme; this theme will always be used when the user logs in.

Only users with the privilege MAINTAIN THEMES granted can administer all theme levels. Without having this privilege, users can only maintain their own user setting.

To create a new theme, either copy a standard theme as described above or create a new one by entering a name in the Theme field and a description in the Comment field. Select the Personal indicator if you want to use this theme for the user setting only.

Personal themes can only be used for user settings. Only themes that are not personal themes can be used for DBA settings, project defaults, and project discipline defaults settings.

You can define your favorite color for:

  • Canvas (screen background)

  • Required Item (mandatory fields in new record mode)

  • Display Item

  • Item

  • Button

  • Query Mode (queryable fields in query mode)

  • Current Record Indicator

Choose the colors by activating the LOV in the different color fields on the left side, either by double-clicking the field or using the List of values icon (F9). This opens a new window displaying the available colors.

Selecting a color from the palette automatically closes this window, enters the color code into the selected color field on window 1, and displays the corresponding color beside the color field.

The values in the color fields can also be entered/changed manually without the use of the LOV. You must enter valid values (0 - 255) for the Red, Green, and Blue components in the RxxxGxxxBxxx format. This allows you to define colors that are not predefined on the color palette.

When all colors are defined, save the theme. Next, you can assign this theme on an appropriate level using the corresponding button. To delete a theme assignment, use the buttons.
