Before you install a Smart Materials Service Pack, verify the prerequisites described in this section.
It is strongly recommended to backup your database before applying a Service Pack, to restore the previous version from this backup in case of a problem.
A Service Pack must not necessarily include new patches for all applications. This means, you might find patches of previous and various Service Packs in the installation folders of a Service Pack. If you have already installed a former Service Pack that contained any of these patches, you need not install these patches again.
For example, you have already installed SP (Service Pack) 1, and you plan to install now SP 3. The table below shows the patches included in the Service Packs, and which of them must be installed.
