This section describes the Service Pack installation procedure for Smart Materials. The Service Pack installation involves the following steps:
-
It is strongly recommended to backup your database before applying a Service Pack, to restore the previous version from this backup in case of a problem.
-
You must install all parts of a Service Pack that are related to an application you use to ensure that all applications work properly. For example, if a Service Pack contains patches only for Smart Materials and you use Smart Materials (SMat), Smart Materials Web (formerly Business Intelligence Reporting (BIR)), and Portal, you must install the following parts: Database, SMat, SMat BIR, SMat Portal.
-
The Database part must always be installed to update the version, even if the Service Pack does not contain a database patch.
-
The software must not be installed on a mounted drive/volume.
