This section explains the specific tasks required to set up the project defaults in Smart Materials Web. You can access and manage project defaults on the Administration > Global Setup > Project Defaults page.
The project default page has the following three tabs:
-
Project Defaults
-
Project Discipline Defaults
-
Project Group Defaults.
-
The project defaults can be set at these levels from top to down; Project Group > Project > Project/Discipline.
-
When a project default has a value of ./., that means the value is not set. In this case, the application uses the hard-coded default value for this setting.
-
The default setting is selected by a module/procedure on the discipline level first, then on the project level, and finally on the project group level. If it is not defined anywhere, an error message occurs.
-
Higher levels only serve as a template for lower levels. This means that if you change a setting at a higher level, then it is effective only if it is not defined at the lower level. For example, if you change a setting at the project level, the discipline setting will still be valid as it was set.
To facilitate a new project set up, project defaults can be copied from other projects or from template projects in different ways.
-
Using the Copy Values button on the Global Setup > Project Defaults page.
-
Using the Copy Admin Setup page, with the Project Defaults or Project Discip. Def. options.
-
Using the Project Setup Copy page, with the Global Setup > Project Defaults function assigned to the Copy Setup.
