You can maintain all the menus, pages, and reports using the Menus page. All menu items (menus, pages, reports, and so on) that should be accessible by the users must be added to the role.
-
From the Home page, select Administration > Global Setup > Roles and Menus.
-
Click Add Row in the Roles section.
-
Type the role name and description.
-
Select a module from the Module list.
Materials specifies a role for Smart Materials Web, and Portal specifies a role for Smart Materials Portal.
-
(Only if you select Portal from Module list) Select a task name from the Task list and then click Save.
For Packing and Freight Forwarding modules in the portal, access control is not possible for file attachment tasks, except for Chat with Traffic Coordinator window. See Define Access Control for other modules to know more about access control for portal screens.
-
If you want to assign a menu to the role, do the following:
-
Click a role and then click Add Row in the Role Menus section.
-
Select a menu item from the Menu Item list and then click Fill In.
-
Select Yes in the Read Only list to activate read only mode for a page.
Read Only is used only for modules of menu type FORM. This setting determines whether the module is called in query-mode. All buttons on the page are disabled.
-
Select Yes in the Restrictions list to de-activate/hide a menu item without deleting it for the role. The whole menu branch with all existing child entries are hidden, including the selected menu. This indicator is only used for modules of menu type MENU.
-
Select Yes in the No Config Change list to restrict change in the configurations for selected pages. Otherwise select No.
-
This option is only needed for pages with configurable fields. For all other screens, this indicator has no meaning.
-
When you select Yes, you cannot save Public Reports or change the Column structure from the Actions menu for the selected page.
-
When you select No, Public Reports can be saved and or you are allowed to change the Column structure from the Actions menu for the selected page.
