In the sample VPN configuration below, the database, Smart Engineering Manager, and Drawing Manager reside behind the firewall. A secure and encrypted tunnel is established between the host site and the satellite location. The database servers at both sites can be isolated on their own subnet at each location with rules applied to each firewall so that only these computers are visible in the VPN. This way, no other computer on a site's LAN is accessible.
The server containing Smart Engineering Manager, Drawing Manager, and the database resides in an isolated subnet separate from the Smart P&ID computers. Only the isolated subnet at each site is visible to the other site. The visible computers between locations and firewall rules for the connection are defined in the VPN.
