Different types of positions have their special characteristics, like geometry selecting or forming of plate parts. The following steps are common for all types of positions:

  1. Add the necessary lines to the grid list.

  2. Selecting a parent level if the added line is a child.

  3. Select a supplier site for the position, if it differs from the default.

  4. Specify the ordered count. If the line is part of a structure, the count of parts will be given so that the ordered count is the count of parts multiplied with the ordered count of the upper level.

  5. Select the work chain.

  6. Specify the identification data of the part.

  7. Select the material.

  8. Specify other data.

After you have specified the data and saved the lines, the software adds the correct work phases to the position based on its work chain. Unit counts will be calculated to the work phases based on the count calculation rules of the Smart Production system. The unit counts can be of different types such as kg, m2, pieces, or hours. The unit prices of a work phase (cost price and sales price) are searched from the price lists. The software calculates the cost price and sales price of the work phase based on this value. The prices of work phases are summed on the position level so that the sum of the work phases is equivalent to the unit price of the position. For each work phase, a workgroup and loading place is calculated according to the workshop loading places that are defined in Smart Production System Settings.
