A short code is a name for a specific type of piping commodity e.g. drain valve. They are used by specification writer to define the piping components in the specifications. It is an abbreviation for piping commodity. Short codes are also used in creating Bill of Materials (BOM) based on specification codes, sizes, and quantities. The table below shows examples of short codes used for a piping component called elbow.

The Short Code Management command allows you to add, update, and delete short codes.

Click SRD > Spec > Short Code Management.

Select All Short Codes/Short Code Types/ Short Codes from the list at the top of the tree view.

Double-click the All Short Codes node to open the Short Codes grid or click Open Grid View .
