Smart Materials/Smart Reference Data Version
10.2

This functionality provides you with the ability to associate properties cumulatively to all the classes of the class systems of a project. Like class properties, class independent properties are also defined by specifying a Smart Reference Data attribute (Attribute management screen in Smart Materials application) or a table. The only difference is unlike global properties, they do not belong to a class system or to a specific class.

Once a class independent property is created, it will be attached to all classes of all the class systems in that project. You can navigate to the provided user interface through the following command.

CMS > XC10 Manage Class Systems > XC1030 Create Class Independent Properties

The grid allows you to manage class independent properties.

In order to create class independent properties, you must do the following:

  1. Switch the grid to edit mode.

  2. Enter data in the grid view.

  3. Save the grid.

The grid contains the following columns.

  • Type: Specify whether the property is of type Attribute or Table.

  • Attribute: Specify the attribute (if type selected is Attribute).

SHARED Tip Once you select an attribute, the type is automatically set to Attribute.

  • Table Name: Specify the table (if type selected is Table).

SHARED Tip Once you select a table, the type is automatically set to Table.

  • Display Height: Specify the display height of the property.

  • Display Width: Specify the display width of the property.

  • Mandatory: Select the check box if it is mandatory that a component have a value for this property, or else leave it unchecked.

Grid Toolbar Buttons: In order to operate on the data displayed in the grid, you can click one of the buttons provided on the grid toolbar. The main buttons and their operations are as given below –

  • Edit Grid: On click, this will set the grid for edit operation. If you want to add, modify, or delete data, click this button first.

  • Read-Only Grid: By default, the grid appears in read-only mode. After edit operations are done and you have saved your data, click this button to set the grid again in read-only mode. Please note that when grid is in edit mode, all other controls will be disabled; those controls are enabled again when you turn the grid in read-only mode by clicking this button. Do not close the window when the grid is in edit mode; all the menu options will remain in a locked condition.

  • Add Row: Click this button to add a blank row in the grid to create a new record.

  • Check Grid: Once you are done with your modifications in the grid, you can click this button to evaluate any possible errors in the data before you save.

  • Save Grid: Save the modifications done in the grid data.

  • Sort: Click this button to define a sort condition for the grid data.

  • Filter: Click this button to define a filter condition for the data displayed in the grid.

  • Current View: Click this button to customize the grid view by adding or removing the columns.

Grid Shortcut Menu: The following options are available when you select a row and click the right mouse button.

  • Copy: Copies the selected row in the grid.

  • Paste: Pastes the row previously selected in the currently selected row.

  • Add Row: Similar to adding a row, this button adds a blank row below the selected row, setting the grid in edit mode if not already set.

  • Delete: Deletes the row selected in the grid.

  • Duplicate Row: Creates a new row copying all values from the current row, and sets the grid in edit mode if not already set.

Selection list LOV: The selection list associated with any field will normally have the following fields.

  • Find: Provide a sub string for the value you are looking for and it will filter the selection list with the possible matches.

  • Values: Displays possible values applicable for the field. You can select one of them either by double-clicking that value or selecting it and then clicking OK.

  • OK: Selects the highlighted value for the field.

  • Cancel: Closes the selection list without making any selection.

When any class independent property is created, it automatically gets associated to all the classes of all the class systems of the project in which it is created. If it is created in a product group, it will get associated to all the classes of all the class systems of the product group as well as projects in the product group.
