After providing the project details, you have an option to enable Revision Management and Lot Management for your project.

Enable Revision Management for a Project

WQMS provides an option to select or apply Revision Management business logic for a project during project creating. These settings are applicable only for WQMS Fabrication site.

  1. After you enter the project details, click the Revision Management tab.

What is Revision Management in Smart WQMS ?

Revision Management in WQMS helps the design engineers and field engineers to effectively manage the data in engineering drawings. Weld drawings are revised several times to adapt to better engineering processes and increase the ease of maintenance. After a drawing change request is made, the changes are made to a drawing and recorded as a higher revision relative to the previous revision. Using this feature, the changes made in the higher revision are effectively managed such that the design data and the as-built data is inline.

During project creation, you can apply revision management logic, where you can choose the required weld or weld component revision properties, data source, and revision scheme to define the revision format. Once you configure the required settings, the piping welds are ready for revision management.

    Workflow for Revision Management

The following swimlane explains how to setup a project, configure the project settings, and how to apply revision management for a project.

  2. Select the following options:

    • Is Revision Management Required? - Select Yes if you require Revision Management for your project. Select No, if you do not require Revision Management for your project.

Do not use Delete with Status Update, Delete and Add item in Piping welds when revision management is enabled for a project.

    • Data Source - Select the data source for your project. Data source represents from which tools (such as 3D, Spoolgen) the weld and wed component data is loaded into WQMS.

    • Revision Scheme - Revision scheme defines the format of the revision such as revision type, number of characters allowed, status (valid or invalid). You can only select one format for a project.

WQMS supports the following formats as shown in the table below: 1-9,1-9, 1,1, 11, 10

Once you set the values Is Revision Management Required, Data Source, and Revision Scheme for a project, you cannot modify them later. You can modify Weld Revision Properties, Weld Component Revision Properties for a project anytime.

After selecting the above options, you must select the weld revision properties and weld components revision properties for which you want to apply Revision Management business logic.

  • Weld Revision Properties - Click the Weld Revision Properties tab, select the required weld properties from the list and click the right arrow to move the property to Selected Weld Properties list .

  • Weld Component Revision Properties - Click the Weld Component Revision Properties tab, select the required weld component properties from the list and click the right arrow to move the property to Selected Weld Components Properties list .

You can assign and deassign the properties using the right and left arrows.

The selected weld revision properties and weld component revision properties will be used while comparing the properties of welds in old revision and new revision. If there are modifications in the selected properties, then Revision Management business logic will be applied.

Enable Lot Management for a Project

WQMS provides an option to enable Lot Management for a project during project creating. These settings are applicable only for WQMS Fabrication site.

What is Lot Management In Smart WQMS ?

Lot management helps you test the quality of welds using progressive sampling method and ensures quality assurance for the welds in a project.

When the Lot management feature is enabled for a project, you must set the rules and properties (such as the percentage tested for a particular weld type and material used, Welding date range, lot size, Group by welder and so on ) in NDE Matrix module using which the lots are created and inspected. For more information on the parameters and rules required to create lots, refer to Define Percentage of Welds in NDE Matrix module

Once the weld is completed, the welds are accepted in Visual Inspection and lots are created automatically according to the criteria defined in NDE matrix. When the lot is completely filled, the status of that lot is considered as Closed and welds are selected for Non-destructive Examination (NDE).

For example, a lot is created with the following weld properties in NDE Matrix module.

  • Weld Material: CS

  • Weld Type: FW

  • RTE Percentage: 50

  • UTE Percentage : 50

  • Welding Date Range: Week

  • Lot Size: 10

  • Group By: Area

  • Group By Welder: Selected

Here, a Lot is created with the weld which has weld material as CS, weld Type as FW. The lot size is 10 which indicates that there are 10 welds in a lot. The Group By parameter groups the welds by area, and Group By welder option is selected to indicate the welder who has completed the weld in a lot.

The RTE % is 50 and UTE % is 50. This indicates that 50% of the lot size which is 5 lots will undergo RTE and 50% of the lot size which is remaining 5 lots will undergo UTE. Based on the NDE examination results, the quality of the welds in a lot are determined.

  1. After you enter the project details, click the Lot Management tab and select Is Lot Management Required option as Yes.

  2. Click Save. After you save, you can manage lots using Lot Management module.

For default projects (project number), Lot management and Revision management is enabled automatically.

Once the welding is completed, the welds are sent to Visual Inspection stage. In Visual Inspection, a Report of Inspection (ROI) is created for the welds. Once you accept the welds, Lots are created automatically based on the criteria defined in NDE matrix module.

    To accept the welds,

    1. Navigate to Piping > Visual Inspection

    2. Select Report of Inspection.

    3. Select the ROI and click Manage Inspection Items to view welds under that ROI.

    4. Select the weld under Manage Inspection Items section and click Accept

    5. Enter the Inspection Name, select the Inspection Date and Accept Reason.

    6. Click Save. The lot are created automatically.

  • The Lot management module is displayed even though it is set as No for a project.

  • If Lot management is set to true for a project, you must disable Apply NDE in Piping module, and NDE Definition module.

  • If lot management is enabled for a project, you must make "IS BSR NDT Required" column items read only in Visual Manage Inspection Items column set.
