In Piping discipline, you can view and export the weld components and also assign manual welds.

Add Manual Welds

This feature allows you to add additional welds and accommodate any changes made in the shop floor or site for the initial drawing revision.

By adding manual welds, you can continue the weld inspection instead of waiting for the changes to be communicated to the Design team and getting a new drawing revision issued.

This feature is applicable for Fabrication-Piping discipline.

For example, consider the following welds and weld components.

  • 123_A Comp, 123_B Comp are the components of 123 Weld.

  • 123_B Comp, 124_A Comp are the components of 124 Weld.

The number of manual welds to be added between the welds 123 and 124 is two. You must add manual welds by selecting and discarding the common weld component for both the welds.

In the example, 123_B component is a common component and acts as a joint for both the welds. Thus, the component 123_B is discarded, and its status is marked as deleted in the next higher revision. Two manual welds MW1 and MW2 with weld components MC1, MC2, MC3 are added between 123_A component and 124_A component.

  1. Navigate to Piping > Weld Components module

  2. Select the weld component and click Add Manual Welds

The ADD MANUAL WELDS screen appears.

  3. Enter the number of manual welds that you need to add in No of Manual Welds to be added field and click Refresh .

  4. The manual welds appear automatically under Welds section along with the existing welds of the selected weld component.

  5. Under Weld Components section, select the End 1 component and End 2 component for the selected weld to which the manual welds should be connected.

    For example,

Select Weld 16 under Welds section and select the required End 2 component and then click Assign.

Select weld 17 under Welds section and select the required End 1 component and then click Assign.

In addition, you can select which end of the manual weld should be connected to which weld.

  6. Click Assign.

The data is stamped along with the welds and weld component IDs for the welds in the bottom grid.

  7. Click Save.

When you add manual welds, WQMS assigns the weld numbers as MW1, MW2 and so on. The user must add additional welds with the same name in the next higher revision. If the next higher revision does not contain these manual welds, they are marked as deleted.
