In this module, you can create or load piping welds and weld components.

Previously, weld files and weld components related to the welds were loaded using a single Excel file which caused performance and data redundancy issues.

The redundant weld component properties on the weld are now removed and you can load weld objects and weld components through two separate excel files by maintaining relationship between welds and components. This improved data consistency and performance.

  1. Click Welds module.

  2. Click SELECT WELD AND WELD COMPONENT FILES.

  3. To upload weld files, click the Browse button for Upload Weld File, select the required file and click Open.

  4. To upload weld component files, click the Browse button for Upload Comp File, select the required file and click Open.

    If Revision Management in enabled for a project, the weld data is revised based on the Data source and Revision Schema. For more information on the methods used for Revision Management in WQMS, refer to Scenarios for Revision Management

  5. Click Load to load the files. The software loads the data from the Excel files to the UI and creates Welds and components.

  6. If you want to load only welds, click Load Welds,select the required file and click Open. If you want to load only weld components, click Load weld-comp, select the required file and click Open. You must use any one of these two buttons, either Load Welds or Load weld-comp.

  7. Click the + symbol for the weld to expand the weld component details. The grid view displays detailed information and helps you differentiate weld component IDs.

  8. You can edit the weld components details and then click Save in the same grid view. To save the weld details, click Save at the right bottom corner of the screen.

    If the weld components does not exist in the system, only weld data will be exported.

  9. Click Export to export the welds and weld components data to excel file.

    When you click the Export button, and save the file to an excel sheet, the weld files will be exported to one excel file and the weld components will be exported to another excel file.

  10. In the search bar, enter *, select any filter criteria, and click Refresh .

    The software displays all the ISO/Drawing Numbers that satisfy the filter criteria.

    If you want particular drawing numbers to be displayed in the ISO/Drawing No list:

    • Copy the ISO/Drawing numbers from the Excel sheet and paste them in the Search bar. After you paste the drawing numbers in the Search bar, they are separated with the | symbol.

      For example, If you copy two drawing numbers from the Excel sheet and paste them in the Search bar, the drawing numbers appear as as HXN81X-S91011-IS030015|HXN81X-S91011-IS030016 separated with the | symbol.

    • In the Search bar, type the ISO/Drawing number in the format below:

      *last two digits of the drawing number* or *Drawing number pattern*

      For example, if the drawing number is HXN81X-S91011-IS030015, in the Search bar, type *15* or type *S91011*. Then only the drawing numbers related to the pattern will be displayed in the ISO/Drawing No list.

      This is applicable to all the modules of Weld Quality Management System where ever there is a filter criteria for ISO/Drawing numbers.

  11. Select an ISO from the list, and all the welds on that ISO are displayed in the table.

  12. After loading the welds, navigate to Piping > Weld Components and click Refresh . The weld components are generated for each weld.

Manage Field Welds

Manage Field welds feature is applicable for Piping discipline in WQMS Fabrication site. Fields welds are managed specific to a project.

During the course of the project, sometimes you may not have the required data for both the weld components of a field weld. In such cases, this feature allows you to relate missing weld component to a field weld. You can add the second weld component data later in the project. This way, the inspection can be continued without any delay caused by incomplete data availability in WQMS.

  1. Navigate to Piping > Welds module.

  2. Select the project, and click Manage Field Welds

    The ASSIGN WELDS COMPONENTS TO FIELD WELDS screen appears.

  3. In the left pane, select the drawing for the weld from ISO/Drawing No. list.

    The field welds that have only one weld component data appears in the grid.

  4. In the right pane, select the drawing from ISO/Drawing No. list. The weld component data for the selected drawing appears.

  5. Select the weld in the left pane and select the required weld component ID and click Relate . The mapped weld data appears in the Mapped Objects pane.

    Ensure that the components are correctly mapped. If you want to undo the changes before saving, select the mapped objects and click Delete.

  6. Click Save.The mapped weld component data is saved on the welds.

Generate Weld Card

This feature is applicable only for Fabrication Piping welds.

  1. Click Welds module.

  2. Select a weld and click Generate Weld Card to generate a weld report or weld card. The weld card for the selected weld opens in a Word file.

  3. You can select multiple welds and generate multiple weld cards. Each weld card is displayed on a single page in the Word file.

  4. In the weld card above, the welder IDs of the welders who are qualified for the weld are displayed in Qualified Welders for the weld field.

  5. Select a weld and click Accept Item .

    The Accept Item dialog box appears. Select the required inspection process and click Save. The software accepts the weld in that specific inspection process.

  6. Select a weld and click Reject Item .

  7. The Weld Repair dialog box appears.

  8. Select Re-weld or Repair Segment.

    • Repair Segment - If you select repair segment, the software rejects the weld in that specific inspection process and the weld is disabled.

    • Re-weld - If you select re-weld, the software rejects the weld in that specific inspection process. The weld is disabled and a new weld with the joint number of the original weld and _CX is created where X is the number of re-welds.

Assign Weld Procedure Specifications and Weld Process to a weld

Before assigning Weld Procedure Specifications (WPS), you must configure the following:

  • Create assignment rule map definition UID in the Admin file. Refer to Map the properties from Source to Target.

  • Provide UID in the Column set - Column item relation.

  • Enable WPS assignment icon through Fabrication security file.

  • Make WPS columns read-only in weld and welder assignment column sets.

  • Make weld process read-only in weld and welder assignment column sets if the weld process is configured.

For more information on the configuration, refer to Map the properties from Source to Target.

Assign WPS and Weld Process

  1. Select a weld and click Assign WPS and Weld Process to assign Weld procedure and Weld process/method for the weld.

  2. In the Assign WPS dialog box, click the list and select the required WPS.

  3. Click Refresh . The list of WPS for the selected weld is displayed.

    The software maps the weld data with the WPS assignment conditions and the logic mentioned on the AssignmentRulesMapDef sheet of WQMS-Admin Excel file and extracts the details into the software. For more information on WPS assignment conditions on the AssignmentRulesMapDef sheet, refer to Map the properties from Source to Target.

  4. Select the WPS and click the right arrow and click Save. The WPS and welding process/method is assigned to the weld.

Assign Welders

To enable this feature with conditions, you must do the following:

  • Configure Assignment rule map def. For more information, refer to Configure the conditions for Production and Tracer welds.

  • Do not change the rule map Def ID.

  • Welds process and WPS must be in read-only mode in the Welds and Welder Assignment column sets.

  • Welder assignment with conditions can be done only through UI.

  1. Select a weld and click Assign Welders .

  2. In the ASSIGN MULTIPLE WELDERS dialog box, click the list, select the required option (Welder ID, Name, company, status, discipline, and so forth), select the welding process, and then click Refresh .

    The list of qualified welders for the selected welding process appears.

    The software maps the welder data with the welder assignment conditions and logic mentioned on the AssignmentRulesMapDef sheet of WQMS-Admin file and extracts the details into the software. For more information on welder assignment conditions on the AssignmentRulesMapDef sheet, refer to the Configure the conditions for Production and Tracer welds.

  3. Select the welder ID and click the right arrow to move the welder ID to the selected list and click Save. The welder is assigned to the weld.

    To un-assign a welder, select the welder from the selected list and click the left arrow and click Save.

Assign Tracer Welds

If a weld is rejected for the welder and there are other welds done by the same welder, they are automatically assigned as tracer welds during the weld rejection.

  • A maximum of two welds are assigned automatically as tracer welds. You can also manually choose the tracer welds for the rejected welds from the UI at a later stage.

  • Tracer welds can be assigned automatically in the configured modules.

  • Enable assign Tracer Welds icon through Fabrication Security Excel file. The Is Tracerweld column must be enabled in Piping-Welds column set.

  • Is NDT Required column must be present in Welds Column set. NDT can be RTE, UTE, and so forth.

  1. Navigate to Piping > Welds

  2. Click Assign Tracer Welds icon . The ASSIGN TRACER WELD FOR THE REJECTED WELD dialog box appears.

  3. Select the drawing number and click Refresh . Rejected welds for different welders are displayed.

  4. Select the rejected weld from the rejected welds list and click Refresh in the bottom table. If there are any other welds done by the same welder, they are displayed in the bottom table.

  5. Select the welds and click Save to assign as tracer welds.

    A maximum of two welds can be selected as tracer welds.

Conditions to assign the welds as Tracer Welds

  1. The weld status on the weld must be valid or empty.

  2. The WPS number on the rejected weld must match the WPS number of the other welds done by the same welder.

  3. The IS NDT Required box on the weld must be empty.

  4. Welds selected for the tracer welds must be of the same discipline.

  5. The visual inspection date for the weld must not be empty, or the weld must be accepted for the visual inspection.

  6. If the weld is already assigned as a tracer weld, it is not displayed on the Assign Tracer Weld for the Rejected Weld page.

  7. The first two welds done by the welder are not displayed on the Assign Tracer Weld for the Rejected Weld page.
