Problem

When installing or upgrading Smart Licensing Client, the following messages occur, and the software does not install or upgrade.

Installation of the following applications failed:

Intergraph Smart Licensing Client

ERROR_PRODUCT_VERSION (80070666) occurred. Another version of this product is already installed. Installation of this version cannot continue

In the log file

Error 0x80070666: Process returned error: 0x666

Error 0x80070666: Failed to execute EXE package.

Error 0x80070666: Failed to configure per-machine EXE package.

Solution

Repair all Visual C++ Redistributable packages that are on the computer.

  1. Open Control Panel, and go to Programs and Features.

  2. Find the Visual C++ Redistributable packages. For example:

    • Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 (or 2017) Redistributable (x64)

    • Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 (or 2017) Redistributable (x86)

  3. Select each package, and click Change.

  4. Click Repair to complete the repair process.

  • You can also uninstall the Visual C++ Redistributable packages, download them from Microsoft, and install them again.

  • Be sure that the latest Windows updates and security features from Microsoft are installed on the computer.
