Problem
When using a multi-byte character set (such as Chinese, Japanese, Russian, etc.) against an Oracle database, creating an object results in Oracle error ORA-12899: value too large for column. The data cannot be saved because the size limit of the property has been exceeded.
Solution
If your implementation uses multi-byte languages, such as Chinese, Japanese and Russian, and you have upgraded to the current version of SmartPlant Foundation from version 2009 R3 SP3 or earlier, you will need to run a script to update the definition of certain columns in the database in order to accommodate the full length of some properties.
