Register the PBS

  1. Click SmartPlant > PBS > Register.

  2. In the SmartPlant Foundation URL box of the Register dialog box, type the node name and virtual directory of the SmartPlant Foundation database to which you want to register your plant. Use the following format: http://[SPFServer]/[VirtualDirectory].

    • To register to a secure server, type https:// in your SmartPlant Foundation URL.

    • Replace [SPFServer] with the name of your SmartPlant Foundation Web server.

    • Replace [Virtual Directory] with the name of the virtual directory for the SmartPlant Foundation Web Client. By default, the virtual directory for the first instance of the Web Client that you install is SPFASP. However, if you install multiple instances of the Web Client to connect to multiple databases, the virtual directory name may be different.

  3. Enter your SmartPlant Foundation user name and password in the User name and Password boxes.

  4. From the Plant name list, select the plant with which you want to register your authoring tool.

  5. Click Finish.

Publish the PBS

  1. Relate ISPFTEFPublishedDocVersion interface to the vault.

  2. Right-click the plant in the Tree window, then click Publish PBS.

  3. In the Publish dialog box, select a revision scheme and the first revision for the PBS document.

  4. Click OK to publish the PBS.

  • The PBS document must be attached to a workflow that has a load step. The PBS document must be loaded successfully in SmartPlant Foundation for tools to retrieve it.

  • For SmartPlant Foundation to support publishing a PBS document to a different plant in the same site or a different site, the corresponding adapter document must contain the EnablePBSPublishToMultiplePlants tag, with the attribute Enabled value set to True. To do this, you must check out the adapter document, PBS Header, from the SmartPlant Foundation Desktop Client, make changes, and check it back in.

  • To override the default name of the PBS document, override the Publish Document method provided on the IEFAdapter interface. For more information about the IEFAdapter, see SmartPlant Adapter Interfaces.
