The Generate Thumbnails command allows you to create thumbnail images (.png) of the following file formats:

Hexagon 2D drawings
-
Non-Hexagon 2D drawings and 3D models
The thumbnail image is stored in the vault along with the file it represents and allows you to view the content of the file without opening it in a viewer.
The file formats for which you want to create thumbnail images must have a SPFFileTypeFileType relationship with FT_png.
By default, a thumbnail image is not created if one already exists. Your administrator can enable thumbnail regeneration by updating the GenerateThumbnail client API. For more information, see Configure thumbnail generation.
Thumbnail images can be generated automatically if your administrator has enabled the Auto generate thumbnails option. In this case, thumbnail images are automatically created when a file is first attached to a document, a new version of the file is checked in, or a new version of the file is published to SmartPlant Foundation from an authoring tool.
The default timeout for non-Hexagon file formats, including Microsoft Office file
formats, is 300 seconds. Your administrator can increase this timeout by updating
the ProcessTimeOutForAlternateRendition property on the Remote Service Settings node on the SmartPlant Foundation site. For more information, see Remote Service Settings node properties.
