Specifying the series grouping allows you to display chart report results in a column chart and further group these results by a relevant series grouping. This provides a mechanism to display the data with greater granularity, adding an additional dimension of data to a chart report. There are three series grouping options in the Specify Series Grouping page.

  • Single Grouping uses a single property with set criterion to form a specific series grouping.

  • Multiple Grouping uses multiple properties, which enables the user to create more complex series groupings.

  • Using Run Time Values grouping uses a single property to form a specific series grouping, which is only generated at the report run time.

Using a single property

  1. In Specify Series Grouping page, select Using Single Property option.

  2. Click Create Grouping to open the Series Grouping Administrator page.

  3. In the Create Series Grouping list, select the property required.

  4. In the Grouping Definition list, type the criteria to add to the property in the Add new criterion dialog box.

  5. Select the condition to add to the criteria from the Condition menu.

The property criteria you use and conditions displayed are dependent on the property type selected.

  6. Click Add Criteria to add the current criteria and condition to the property. The series groupings created displays in the Criteria Definition list.

  7. Click Create to create the series grouping.

  8. Click Finish to display all the property series groupings in the Specify Series Grouping list.

  9. Click Finish to create the report.

Using multiple properties

  1. In Specify Series Grouping page, select Using Multiple Properties option.

  2. Click Create Series Grouping to open the Series Grouping Administrator page.

  3. Enter the Grouping name and Description in the boxes provided.

The Grouping name box is mandatory. A warning message displays if nothing is typed.

  4. In the Create Series Groupings list, select the property required.

  5. In the Criteria Definition page, type the criteria to add to the property in the Add new criterion box.

  6. Select the condition to add to the criteria from the Condition menu.

The property criteria you use and conditions displayed are dependent on the property type selected.

  7. Click Add Criteria to add the current criteria and condition to the property. The series groupings created displays in the Criteria Definition list.

SHARED Tip You can repeat this action to add further criteria and conditions to other properties.

  8. Click Create to create the series grouping and display all the property series groupings created in the Specify Series.

  9. Click Finish to display all the series groupings created in the Criteria Definition list.

  10. Click Cancel to close the Series Grouping Administrator page.

  11. Click Finish to close the Specify series Grouping page and create the report.

Using Run Time Values

  1. In Specify Series Grouping page, select Using Run Time Values option.

  2. Click Create Series Grouping to open the Series Grouping Administrator page.

  3. In the Create Series Groupings list, select a property to base the groupings on. For example, Category.

    • The dialog box validates that an eligible property has been selected and only allows you to progress if the selection is valid.

    • After you select a property, you cannot add any further properties to groupings.

    • UoM fields are restricted, therefore UoMs cannot be used with run time values.

    • Click Calculate Groupings to display information on how many groupings will be created for the selected property at run time. If the property selected has a large number of distinct values, this would create a large number of groupings, which may be unwanted.

  4. Click Finish when you have selected the property.

A message appears in the Series Grouping Selection dialog box stating that series groupings will be generated at run time using the property selected.

  5. Click Finish to close the Specify Series Grouping page and create the report.
