If you want the default register templates delivered with the software to be used by all plants in the site, make sure the SmartPlant Master Tag Registry files are loaded in Configuration Top. Otherwise you can only use the templates with the plant under which it was created. For more information on setting active scope to Configuration Top, see User Options.

Use the following procedure to create a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet template and make it available for use as a template for Microsoft Excel Register output format while generating reports.

  1. Create a new Microsoft Excel document.

  2. Add a logo or other information or formatting to the document as necessary.

  3. To specify the cell in which you want to start populating data, type LISTVIEW_START in the Name box of preceding cell. For example, if A2 is the cell in which you want to start populating the data, type LISTVIEW_START in the Name box of cell A1.

  4. Save the Excel Macro-Enabled Workbook (.xlsm) file, and close Microsoft Excel.

  5. Log on to SmartPlant Foundation Desktop Client as an administrator.

  6. Click File > Set Active Scope.

  7. On the Set Active Scope dialog box, set the Create scope to the plant in which you want to use the created templates, or select Scope Not Set to make the templates available for all plants.

  8. Expand Document Category > Templates Documents > Excel Register Template in the tree view.

    TemplateDocument

  9. Right-click Excel Register Template, and click New Template Document.

  10. In the New Template Document wizard, type a name and description for the new template.

  11. Select an owning group to assign to the new template document.

  12. Click Next.

  13. Attach the Microsoft Excel file created above, and click Finish.

    • By default, the local copy of the Microsoft Excel file is removed from the local folder and stored in the SmartPlant Foundation database. In the Attach File dialog box, clear the Delete Local Files option to keep a local copy of the file. The selection is stored in the local system to be used as default the next time you access this dialog box. Users can change their preference at any time by selecting this option.

    • To edit the new register template, you must checkout the template, modify it, and then check in the template into SmartPlant Foundation.
