As an Originator, you can create an action item and tracking task, and attach relevant documents and tags. This action item and tracking task is associated to the Action Tracking workflow by default. A template workflow helps in tracking open action items, ensures that a consistent tracking, verification, and approval process is followed for task completion, and provides documented evidence for auditable traceability.

For example, you can create an action item and tracking task to track the progress of construction activities in a plant.

  1. Click File > New > Action Item and Issue Tracking > Task.

  2. In the New Action Item and Tracking Task dialog box, in the Main details section, enter the name in the Name box.

  3. In the Details section, select values from the Category and Priority lists.

  4. Enter the information in the Requested By box.

  5. In the Status section, enter the date in the Due Date box.

  6. In the Relations section, select an organization by clicking Find, and then select the check box in the Organization box.

  7. To select an assignee, click Find, and then select a value from the Assignee list. Similarly select a value from the Verifier list.

  8. Click Finish. A new action item and tracking task is created and displayed in the New Items window.

  9. The TaskCreated step appears in your To Do List.

  10. Right-click the TaskCreated step, and click Action > Completed.
