This section provides a simple example workflow to help you become familiar with SmartPlant Master Tag Registry. It outlines how you can allocate tags, get technical details from vendors for those tags, and generate a tag register.
Let's consider that you are a Project Data Coordinator or Project Engineer, and you want to generate a tag register with equipment tags to check the accuracy and consistency of tag numbering. You also want expedite operational readiness and perform asset management. Using SmartPlant Master Tag Registry workflows you can easily create tags and generate tag registers.
To get started with SmartPlant Master Tag Registry, make sure that the pre-requisites are installed on your computer as described in the SmartPlant Master Tag Registry Installation and Setup Guide. Also, make sure a plant breakdown structure has been defined containing a Unit named “10”.
In this scenario, you need to perform the following tasks:

In SmartPlant Foundation Desktop Client, create a unit named, 10. To create a unit, see Create a unit.

Create 10 tags of type equipment in SmartPlant Master Tag Registry. To create tags, see Pre-allocate tags.

Generate a datasheet with equipment tags. To generate a data sheet, see Generate a data sheet with equipment type tags.

Use the data sheet to provide any technical details available for the tags. To fill tags technical data, see Define tag data.

Load the data sheet with the tag details into the SmartPlant Master Tag Registry using Excel Import functionality. To import tags, see Import tag data into the authoring domain.
