You can create new attributes that do not currently exist in the system and apply them to any of classifications displayed after running an attribute query. The new attributes appear as new column items for each of the displayed classifications. To create a new attribute:

In the main toolbar, click Create New Attributes , which opens the Create New Attribute dialog box.

You can now build a new attribute as either a property definition or a relationship definition using various defined criteria and supporting schema objects.

Property definition attribute

When you create a property attribute the following pages are displayed:

Attribute Details page

In the Attribute Details page, create the attribute and select Property Definition as the Attribute Type. In the Attribute Details section, enter the attribute's name, description, and tooltip. You can also search and select a Dynamic Form Section object from a drop-down list, and click Next.

Schema Details page

In the Schema Details page, enter the name and description of the attribute in the Property Definition section. Select various schema objects details in the Property Definition Information section, and click Next.

  • The most common property definition scopes are available in the Scoped By drop-down list. However, you can search for any other scopes in the system, such as units of measurement lists or enumerated lists.

  • The Name box is populated with the name entered in the Attribute Details page as it is mandatory.

Before creating any schema objects, you must ensure that the schema object does not already exist in the system to avoid data duplication.

Summary page

In the Summary page, confirm that the details of the new attribute are correct or refine the details as required. Click Finish to create the new attribute.

Relationship definition attribute

When you create a relationship definition attribute the following pages are displayed:

Attribute Details page

In the Attribute Details page, select Relationship Definition as the Attribute Type. In the Attribute Details section, enter the name, description, and tooltip for the new attribute. You can also search and select the Dynamic Form Section object from a drop-down list, and click Next.

Schema Details page

In the Schema Details page, enter the name and description for the new attribute in the Relationship Definition section. In the Relationship Definition Information section, select the interface definitions for the objects at End 1 and End 2. Select the required options, and click Next.

Before creating any schema objects, you must ensure that the schema objects do not already exist in the system to avoid data duplication.

  • The Name box is populated with the name entered in the Attribute Details page as it is mandatory.

  • You can choose the direction of the relationship definition by selecting Direction is 12.

Advanced Settings

The Advanced Settings section allows you to specify the relationship definition role display names for the selected interface definitions and the cardinality details for the objects. This page is optional, as you can bypass the page and continue directly to Finish.

If you skip this page, default values are set on the relationship definition to ensure that the cardinality is Many to Many and the role names leverage the display names of the selected End 1 and End 2 Interface Definitions.

Summary page

In the Summary page, confirm that the details of the new attribute are correct or refine the details as required. Click Finish to create the new attribute.

For examples of creating each type of new attribute, see Attribution Manager Wizard Examples.
