  • Central tag Allocation (CTA) must be installed and configured for publishing and retrieving tags from various Smart Engineering tools such Smart P&ID, Smart Instrumentation, and Smart Electrical.

  • Tag classifications which are mapped in SPO/E Core can only be retrieved from the various Smart Engineering tools.

You can retrieve tags published from various Smart Engineering tools such as Smart P&ID, Smart Electrical, and Smart Instrumentation, in the SPO/E authoring domain.

After retrieving the tags, you can update them. You can add additional tag properties and relationship definitions to the authoring tags, relate them to a work package, then publish the work package. The Smart Engineering tools can then retrieve these updated tags from the published document.

  1. Click SmartPlant > Central Tag Allocation > Retrieve.

  2. In the Retrieve dialog box, select the document type you want to retrieve from the Document type list.

SHARED Tip To filter the list of documents, select one of the check boxes:

    • If you are retrieving a published document for the first time, then select the New documents check box.

    • If you are retrieving a new version of the published document, then select the New versions of retrieved documents check box.

    • If you are retrieving a document version you had retrieved earlier, but did not make modifications to, then select the Unchanged documents check box.

  3. Select the document from the Documents to retrieve section.

Select Batch retrieve if you want the retrieve process to run in batch mode. If you select this check box, the retrieve process runs in the background. If you have configured email notification, an email message will alert you when the process is complete.

  4. Click OK.

  5. Find the retrieved document by clicking Find > Documents > CTA Retrieved Documents.

  6. Right-click the retrieved document, and click Show Retrieved Authoring Tags to view all the retrieved tags attached to the document in the SPO/E authoring domain.

  • To view the date and time when the tags were last retrieved, check the Last Retrieved Date property in the Properties window. You can also view the Last Retrieved Date and Retrieved Documents properties as two columns in the List View window when querying retrieved tags.

  • To navigate from the retrieved tag to the retrieved document, right-click the tag and click Show Retrieved Documents.
