Right-click a register document, and click Create Historic Snapshot.

Select the date and time.
A version of the document is automatically created and the selected date shown on the version as the SPFHistoricSnapshotCreationDateproperty.

Right-click the register documents, and click Show All Files to see the related snapshot.
The report contains objects available at the selected past date and time and can be used for comparison.
