Create and manage PDF reader pre-processor templates - SmartPlant Foundation - IM Update 48 - Help - Hexagon

Before you create templates in the PDF pre-processor module, you must annotate the content or an area that needs to be extracted from the pdf template file. You then configure a rule for the annotation in the comment. You can configure multiple rules and rule types for a single pdf template file. 1. Log on to the product as a Data CaptureController.

2. In the Data Capture Pre-Processor module, click PDF Reader Pre-Processor.

3. Click Manage Templates .

4. In the Template Group pane, click Add Template Group and type the name of the template group to create a template group, and then select a template group from the list of template groups created.

5. Click Create Template in the Associate Templates for Template Group pane.

6. In the Create Template window, type a name for the template.

7. Click Browse to select the PDF template file.

8. Click Create.

   The rules defined in the template are automatically created and configured in the Associate Rules for Template pane. For more information on how to configure different rules in a pdf template file, see the following sections.

9. In the Associate Rules for Template pane, select a rule and click Configure Rule to customize the rule. For further information on how to customize the rule, see the topics about different rule types.

10. Click Save to save the rule changes to the PDF template file.

• You can update a template file by doing as follows:

  1. Click Edit Template in the Associate Templates for Template Group pane.

  2. Click Browse in the Editing <Template Name> Template window to select the modified PDF template file, and click Update.

• For information on keywords used in the PDF Reader Pre-Processor module, click PDF Template Keywords in the Associate Templates for Template Group pane to open the PDF Template Keywords window with the list of keywords.

• You can preview the output of the rules configured in a template in the Preview Rules for Template window:

1. Click Preview Rules

2. Click Browse, select a pdf file in the Preview Rules for Template window, and click Preview Rules.
