Archive
Archive is the process in which all files are copied to a specified location and are optionally deleted from vault to control the vault size. During the process of archiving, along with the physical files, the required metadata is exported and stored in xml files to enable restore later. Restore is not automated; it is a manual process. All the archived files can then be purged from the vault.
Purge
After archiving the following objects can be purged from the SmartPlant Foundation database:

File objects that have been archived.

Documents along with the attached file object in which case only archived files are purged.

All the file objects in the graph definition result that have been archived, for example a folder or vault contents.
