  1. Right-click the form object, and click Manage Sections on the shortcut menu. The Manage Related Items for Forms dialog box is displayed (see below for details).

  2. In the right pane, click Create. The New Item dialog box is displayed.

  3. Type a Name and Description for the section.

If you are creating a new section for use on an update form, do not include the text "RevScheme" in the name of the section. If this text is included in the name, the system treats it as an overridden section element and retrieves the next or initial major and minor values. This can result in corrupted data.

  4. In the Display As box, type the section name as it should appear on the form.

  5. Provide values in the remaining boxes using the information below, and then click Finish to create the new section.

Property

Description

Is section visible

Select to make the section visible in the form.

Property level access control

Overrides the display items setting. Options are:

Read only - All display items in the section are read-only regardless of their individual settings.

Read/Write - All display items in the section are editable regardless of their individual settings.

Auto Initially Collapsed

Auto Initially Expanded

Initially Collapsed

Initially Expanded

Dynamic section driven from column set

Select to make the section dynamic in the form.

(See Dynamic sections)

Indicate what level the section is in the complex structure.

Determines which object of a complex object to set the properties on.

If specified section will be presented in a tab on the form using the name or #nnnn string.

String in which you can enter a name for the tab.

Once the section has been created, the display items can be added to it. See Create new display items.

Form Purpose options

Purpose

Description

Activate

Activates a reserved document. This option is different from create because some properties set during document reservation can be read-only during activate. An example of a read-only property is Name.

Copy

Section is to be displayed on copy forms. When an object is copied, only those display items that are associated with a section that has the Copy option selected are copied.

Create

Section is to be displayed on create and copy forms.

Get info

Get Information. Section is to be displayed on Properties or Details dialog boxes. All display items are presented as read-only so the same section can be used for Update and Get information.

HisRev

Section is to be displayed on history revision forms.

Query

Section is to be displayed on query forms.

Reclassify

Section is to be displayed on reclassify forms.

Revise

Section is to be displayed on revise forms.

Sign Off

Section is to be displayed only on sign off forms.

Update

Section is to be displayed only on update forms.

AttachFile

Section is to be displayed only on attach forms.

Upload

Section to be displayed on upload forms.

Hidden sections

You may want the form to have display items that are not shown to the user. This is achieved by not displaying the section on the form (hidden sections). To do this, leave the Is section visible check box unselected.

Dependant pick lists

The Indicate what level the section is in the complex structure is used to create a dependency between related items in complex objects to control what is actually displayed.

Example

In the above example, the tag has a relationship to both Unit and Area, but there is also a relationship between Unit and Area. When you pick a unit (for example 01), the SPFDisplayItemDependentItem relationship definition restricts the pick list to 01 areas (Area 01A, and Area 01B).
