The Merge command allows you to merge claimed objects back into a higher configuration, such as a plant. You can merge:
-
Selected items within a configuration
-
A complete configuration
-
Selected items by a grouping object
-
Selected items or a configuration in batch or scheduled mode
-
Through a workflow process step
For more information about updating an object within a project and merging it back into a plant, see Modifying an object in a project.
Items can be prevented from being merged into a plant using the ExcludeFromMerge property on a relationship definition. For example, by default, this property is set to true for the SPFFileMarkup relationship definition which prevents markups attached to a file at project level from being merged into the plant. For more information, see ExcludeFromMerge.
-
Right-click a claimed object, then click Concurrent Engineering > Merge.
If the Merge command does not appear on the shortcut menu, you have a conflict between your claimed item and the design basis. You must resolve conflicts before the Merge command appears.
-
On the Merge dialog box, select the objects to merge and then click OK.
Select the Collapse All check box to hide the details of the selected objects.
A dialog box displays confirming the successful merge.
-
Set your scope to the appropriate plant.
-
Click Find or Query on the object to verify your changes appear at the plant level.
On completion of a merge, ensure that you refresh all views of the merged items, so that the current data is displayed in context.
