Problem

An error occurs when you search for Data Capture domain data using Qfind in the Desktop Client which results in the error "String or binary data would be truncated. The statement has been terminated."

Solution

Error occurs when the domain name length exceeds the number of characters supported. The domain name is provided while creating a data connection or while processing the files using the Data Capture Pre-Processor readers.

In the Data Capture Pre-Processor Utilities module:

  • To extract content from the files using Data Capture Pre-Processor readers, it is recommended you restrict the number of characters in the domain name so that it does not exceed 10 characters.

In the Data Capture Administration module:

  • To create a data connection using Data Reader Patterns module, it is recommended you restrict the number of the characters in the domain name so that it does not exceed 10 characters.

The domain name is dependent on the size of SRCEDGE column of Graph_tmp table in the database. If required, you can increase the size of the domain name up to 30 characters by altering the size of SRCEDGE column in the Graph_tmp table. However, it is recommended to restrict the number of characters in domain name to supported length.
